Trans Awareness Week 2022

What Trans Awareness Week Means to Me

This will be the second year that I will be taking part in Trans Awareness Week as an openly trans-woman and it feels amazing.  For too many years I had to internalize who I was and not draw attention to the fact that I was different.

Needless to say, keeping my true self hidden from others proved to be a major health issue for me.  Prior to coming out, I was suffering from a number of health issues including pre-hypertension from which I came very close to suffering a stroke.

In June of 2021, I cracked my egg and came out to my family and the world.  Immediately, my health began to improve and when I started on HRT my health got even better.  This is what so many of us go through and too many of us wind up with severe health complications or even die because we are forced to remain in hiding.

Bringing awareness to the openly Trans people in our communities should be a beacon to others to that what they are experiencing is a normal part of being a human being and that there are people that will accept them for who they are.

My Personal Achievements as a Trans-Woman

This last year has been full of many trials and a move back to my home state of California.

Recently I finished rebranding both my technology and DJ businesses so they are more in line with who I am.  I no longer have to hide behind a mask of masculinity which is freeing but also quite scary as both businesses are heavily male dominated.

Thankfully, my DJ business just needed some color changes and picture updates.  My technology business however was the most difficult as it referenced my deadname and I am still getting accounts changed over to the new branding.

One of my goals with this is to one day be able to share this knowledge with others and help them along their path.

Where Do We Go From Here?

So, we have a week dedicated to bringing awareness to the Trans community, what should we do with it?

I personally will be doing everything I can to celebrate what it means to be trans and educate myself on events and people that are helping pave the way for equality.

Especially, I want to celebrate Trans-men and non-binary individuals as they are getting some of the worst treatment of us all.  This mistreatment is mostly because of ignorance and the refusal of some people to just allow us to exist.

I hope that this post helps you to research more about what it means to be trans and how you may be able to help support inclusivity in our communities.
