Interpretation
Messengers are all around us and we need to heed them both past and present.
Today we remember one of the most influential messengers of our time, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but we must remember that, though he has the most press, he is not the only person that has fought for our civil rights. I believe that Dr. King would prefer that we do our best to hear everyone that has a message for us. These other messengers have different experiences that are just as important as those that get most of the recognition.
However, some messengers have a different lesson we must learn. Those are ones that would like to do us harm and, though their message is wrought with negativity, we must heed them as much as those with a positive message. If we ignore these messengers of hate then we will not know how to defeat them and we open ourselves to attack.
We have lost so many amazing people that had important messages that all of us need to know. When we do not heed these messengers we open ourselves to attack and far to often we do not come out ahead.
The NAACP has a great list of Civil Rights Leaders that we should all know about. There are so many others that are not in the mainstream and I would love you to share them with us.
A Personal Note
You may notice that I am distraught today and I am, I am completely destroyed and I’m doing my best to get through it. I awoke this morning to learn that a few days ago one of our Trans Sisters was slain this last week in a brutal stabbing. Pink News has an article about the murder of this person that was just trying to find her way through a brutal world.
Believe it or not, this is a Messenger. They are telling us to be diligent and not give up our fight for existence. We are being targeted and if we are not careful we will be murdered. This Messenger is telling us that this is not an acceptable way to live and we must fight through!
Blessed Be!
